We are Free

Back in November, we started to live sugar free, kind of. Then Christmas came, then my birthday, then visitors, then summer, then vacation, then hang outs. There went the sugar right back into our bodies.

Our time at the gym dimminished. Our bodies went back to where they were. Our sleep lacked. Our skin broke out. Our stomachs hurt.

In the past month, I found a chiropractor who does kinesiology. Our son struggles with anxiety and depression and I wanted to get to the root cause, not keep masking it. We found his digestive system and reproductive system to be quite a mess. After spending time and money with medical doctors over the past three years, we found out more of what was going on in fifteen minutes than in those three years.

Needless to say, we all went through the testing and adjustments. As a result, we found we all need to make some changes.

The simplist thing we did was add supplements to our daily regimen. The hardest thing we have done is swap our organic whole grain bread for quinoa and rice.

We literally have swapped all foods for nutrient rich vegetables, almonds, walnuts, fish and chicken. We swapped our filtered water for water free of chlorine (it's poison to your body), fluoride (it causes thyroid and reproductive issues) and other chemicals. We swapped sugar for Stevia (sparingly). We swapped wheat and gluten for rice flour, almond flour and coconut flour. We swapped caffeine for organic decaf coffee. We swapped whole milk for almond milk.

We have learned a few things in the past two weeks.
1. Veggies taste good!
2. Cutting out Gluten, Dairy, Sugar, Alcohol and Caffeine can make you sick. But, it's a good sick. It's the cadida dying off. It's your stomach slimming. It's the chemicals leaving your body.
3. Creativity in food takes time, planning and preparation. The pay off is worth it.
4. Our grocery bill increased. It is slowly going back down as I navigate new ground.
5. Our fridge, on the inside looks really colorful.
6. I can overcome the urge to cheat. I haven't. Not once.
7. The kids can make their own food. They are not keen on all of the changes. When I say We, I really just mean Aaron and I for the most part. The transition is much slower for the kids.
8. I sleep much better.
9. Fruit is really sweet.
10. Spinach, Arugula, Kale omelets are very tasty.
