The Journey of Us...PART III
The Wedding....
In case you forgot, we were engaged on Dec 4th, 1999. I didn't want a long engagement, so I searched for a date within six months of the engagement. It was set for June 24th, 2000.
With my mom undergoing chemotherapy, planning a wedding right then wasn't ideal. However, the thought of the possibilty my mom may not be there at all, we felt we needed to move forward "just incase." I'm sure people thought I was being selfish, but I wanted my mom at my wedding and with cancer, you just never know.
So, plan we did. I had the privilage of my mother-in-law and my mom being a part of the plans. I wanted my mother-in-law included, because my sister-in-law has CP and the chance of her marrying is slim to none. I didn't want Sue (my mother-in-law) to miss out on the joy of planning a daughter's wedding. With my mom being sick with treatments, it all seemed to work out. At least from my perspective.
We tried to keep it simple and inexpensive as possible. I'm allergic to most flowers, so they were fake. Aaron's aunt made our sheet cakes and my cousin made our "main cake." Friends of my mom's made and served all the food. My aunt and uncle did the flowers for at my parent's. My cousin played piano, and our friend sang. Many hands make for light work and many hands made for a beautiful wedding.
However, many hands did not always make a happy bride-to-be. In fact, Aaron sat me down three days before our wedding and asked, "Do you still want to marry me? Do you even love me?" That's right, I, with the help of birth-control pills, turned into a BIG B****! Of course I cried and said I love you and I DO want to marry you! He understood.
The night before our wedding, Aaron drove me home to our soon to be apartment. At midnight, we prayed and asked God to bless our coming day and years together. Side note, every year the night before our anniversary, we stay up till midnight an pray. I cannot take credit, I married a romantic, remember every moment type of guy!

The big day! I got up, got my hair done, and headed to the church via my sister, Kylene. Oh, my friend did my hair, so yep it was FREE! We got pictures done. Had the ceremony, it lasted all of 23 minutes. Oh and my dad didn't want to let go, I told him to. The highlight of our ceremony, swing music and my husband's Zuit Suit.

We had a dinner reception at church and a dance reception at my parents. Highlight of our reception...my sister and her ex-beau had a fireworks show for us!

Definitely a day I won't soon forget! Next up...To Be Continued...
