Mom2Mom
Mom2Mom is a group a couple of friends of mine and I attend at my church on Thursday mornings. It is a lot like MOPS, but without the name. I was a part of this group back when it was MOPS and Jonathan was a baby. I was at one point part of leadership and thoroughly enjoyed it.
We switched churches 6 years ago and I started my own mom's group there. I loved it. I loved the ladies who would join me Thursday mornings. I loved the kids and watching them grow and change. I backed out as leader and Time Out for Moms faded.
Here I am, 3 years later and I'm back where I started. I'm back at MOPS er, Mom2Mom. I missed it here. I missed the comfort of having a mentor. I missed the comfort of someone else being in charge. I missed the ladies.
It's changed. The leadership has changed. The format, changed. I love it!
Women of all ages come and share a meal together. They share a time of prayer. You can feel the wisdom in the room. You can hear the chatter of generations. You can smell the sweet scent of Jesus.
This past week, we had a panel of ladies come and share some of their wisdom. We had questions for them, tough questions. They answered. I learned.
**When you can't control a situation, demonstrate a Godly response.
Oh man, this is so good to hear for a control freak like myself! God, please resonate in me and through me.
**Intentionally cultivate your friendship with your husband.
Aaron and I are actually quite conscience of this. Even if it is a game of cribbage over lunch.
**Feed rejection with love.
Who doesn't need to hear that! We all have been rejected at some point...just love.
**We get caught up in discipline and need to remember we are here to guide, not control.
Our children need our love and grace, not our wrath.
**Three positives for every one negative!
We do this with the kids. If you are mean to your sibling, you need to do 3 nice things for them. It works.
**You and your spouse are the well your children draw from, keep the water clean and remain one well.
Do not let your kids "pin" you against one another and keep your marriage on the right path.
Thank you, Sue, Cathy, and Shirley! Your wisdom never ceases to amaze me.
