Thoughts for Today...
I don't believe there is an area of leaving we've not dealt with.  In the beginning of our marriage, we absolutely "cut apron strings."  Moving to NYC two years into marriage was the best thing for us and our families.  It allowed for a time of separation from all that we knew.  Allowing us to recreate boundaries with our families.  Realizing our dependence on one another and not on our parents.  Today, we make time for one another and time for the kids.  We attend family get togethers, visit our parents, have them over for dinner, have bbq's, and hang out.  However,  if we are unable to, we don't feel guilty about it (something we struggled with the first years of marriage).

Lord, thank you for boundaries.  Thank you for showing us the need to put our immediate family first.  Thank you for showing us there is no need for guilt and condemnation.  Amen.
