Love is Not Rude

Today’s Dare

Ask your spouse to tell you three

things that cause him or her to be

uncomfortable or irritated with you.

You must do so without attacking them

or justifying your behavior. This is

from their perspective only.

I thought today may be very difficult.  After all, who wants to hear all the things someone doesn't like about you?  In reality, it was quite fun and easy to take.  I was ready for it.  I am ready for a change, so bring it on.  He did.

1.  I have a blind eye to the work he does around the house.  I don't see what he does, only what I do.  And then, I criticize what he does do.  I do this!  I don't want to, but I do!  Ugh!

2.  I hold him to a higher standard than myself.  Meaning, I ask him to put the phone down or put the laptop away, while I sit and text and type.  So not fair of me!  I do this.  I really do!  Isn't that horrible?!

3.  I will sit on the adjacent couch and expect him to get up and come cuddle with me.  Or I'll be in bed in the morning, and yell at him to come cuddle.  This says to him, "I'm selfish and rude and lazy.  God forbid if she got up and came to me."  I had no idea this bothered him.  So glad I asked.  Mental note made...get off your duff, Jo!
