Gentle Reminder

Last month, the kids and I met up with some friends at Como Zoo.  While there, we visited the butterfly exhibit.  The kids loved it and the butterflies (most of them) were absolutely beautiful.
I came upon this butterfly pictured above.  I wasn't going to stop, I was going to keep on walking and not photograph this butterfly.  Why?  Look at it.  This butterfly is not bright and colorful, it's wing is damaged, and it's honestly not that stunning.  And then I stopped.  I snapped a photo. And thought...

What if God did that?  What if God looked at me and said, "oh, no, I'm not stopping there today.  She gossips, swears, didn't read her Bible...yeah, I think I'll pass her by today."  What if God looked at me and said, "I have no compassion, grace, love, forgiveness for her today."  What if?

I'm so glad He stops!  I'm so glad He has compassion.  I'm so glad He doesn't see me that way.  I'm so glad He loves me just the way I am.  I'm so gald He has grace that is new every morning!  I'm so glad He forgives!

Thank you, God, for not seeing me like that.  Thank you, God, for your compassion, grace, love, forgiveness!  Thank you for using that butterfly to remind me you love us no matter what.  Thank you for seeing me as this butterfly...

bright and beautiful.
