Paid to play

Some nights, like tonight, are very boring at work.  I literally was paid for eight hours of reading blogs.  I shouldn't complain, but I'd much rather be busy.  The time goes by much faster when I have multiple admits, phone ringing off the hook, call box going, a transport to send out, registrations to do, tests to set up, warmers to order, isolets to obtain, bili lights to retrieve, calls to make, nurses to beg, meds to run, assignment sheets to check, Census books to fill in, brainboard to update, parents to please, and visitors coming and going. With 35+ babies it's much busier.  So, I hoped all weekend for at least 3 admits.  I had none.  Instead, I had 7 discharges.  I was left with 27 babes.  Which means, I got paid for eight hours to play!
