The Journey of Us...Part V
BABY!
"I knew for certain I was pregnant on January 19, 2001, when daddy and I took a home pregnancy test. Daddy had to leave the room. I couldn't pee in front of him. We were so happy. 'We're going to be parents!'" Taken from my favorite book ever..."Before Baby Arrives, A Mother's Pregnancy Journal."
"I felt nauseated, especially flipping through papers at work, being a passenger in a car, and the smell of different things.
Dawn Olson was the first person I told. Then, another co-worker, Melissa. We then went to Grandma Johnson's work to tell her. We left the test on the table for David and Tori to see when they got home. Yep, I did that!
It was Grandma's birthday, so we addressed it to grandma and signed, "Jolene, Aaron, and baby." It took a minute and then she cried and was so happy!
Daddy went to Grandma Sue's and told her the next morning. More tears of joy.
You were about to make a whole lot of people very happy.
Here's a picture of us around the time of conception.
Here's your first and only ultrasound pics. I had a feeling you were a boy, but we opted to wait for your birth to know for sure. I'm glad we did.
Of course we had to decide on names. That was a chore. We wrote out lists separately, then came together and picked our favorites. Funny, your name isn't even on the list. You were named after Grandpa Johnny.
I was ill all 9 months! Vomitted all but 5 days the entire pregnancy. The Dr. would tell me, "the sicker you are the healthier the baby is."
First trimester, I craved Arby's Roast Beef and gained 5 pounds total.
Second Trimester, I craved pickles, mexican, green apple flovored candy, and green apples. Of course, nothing actually remained in me. I gained a total of 12 pounds. I gained nothing there after.
Third trimester, I craved Caribou Coffee. Turtle Mochas to be exact. We dropped $200+ at Caribou/month, the last 3 months. You were worth it!
Labor/Delivery
"My contractions began at 12am on Sept. 22, 2001. I had already been up for 17+ hours due to your contractions being on and off earlier the day before. We actually went to the hospital and they sent us home. Finally, at 6:15am on Sept.22, my water broke. We entered the hospital at 7am. I was given Pitossin, Nubane (evil, horrible drug), and laid to rest. Not so much. Auntie Ky, Grandma Kathie, and Bailey came to the hospital. Auntie was mommy's life saver! Daddy too. Actually, they came at noon, gave me an epidural to make me rest (daddy said, once my epidural was in and I could rest, I started snoring before my head hit the pillow). At 7pm, they came in and woke me up to start pushing. Once your head and shoulders were out, the Dr. said, "reach down and pull him out." I delivered you! What an experience. When your head came out, daddy said, "it's either an ugly girl or an adorable boy." You were adorable! We snapped a couple pics and then they wisked you away. You had meconium on the way out and went to the Special Care Nursery for a couple hours for monitoring. Grandma, Auntie, daddy, mommy, and Bailey, joined hands in the delivery room and prayed. Thank God, you were just fine." You were born on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001. You weighed 8#12 oz and were 21 1/2".
Here you are, Jonathan David (3 months)
