On the Healthy Side

Men’s Health Magazine

The Men’s Health magazine was lying in the break room the other day, so I picked it up. You know, to look at all the hot bodies…um, NO! Actually, I was curious if there were any good pointers a woman could use too. After all, my other choice was Elle, I believe. I’d rather look at something I’m interested in. I’m not interested in shoes that will cost me a paycheck!

Since I know you’re dying to know, here’s what I learned…

Healthy Bread
*1st ingredient = Whole grain
*2 grams + of fiber per slice
*NO inulin or polydextrose (Fake fiber that causes belly fat. So fake, my spell check doesn’t recognize either as words!)
**Good choices… Arnold Grains and More (Double Hearty Oatmeal) and Sara Lee (100% Whole Wheat with Honey)

Blueberries
Wild blueberry juice lowers your blood sugar and insulin resistance. I cup of juice or 1 cup of frozen/fresh, either one will do the trick!

Yogurt
You should find the following on the label.
*20% of your daily calcium intake
*10 grams + protein
*100 calories
*Add your own fruit and nuts to lower the amount of sugar consumed.

Eating to lose weight
*Cut food into one inch bites
*Chew each bite for 9 seconds
*Diet should be no more than 43% carbs
*Eat chicken or other poultry and salads

What magazines have you read, and what did you learn?

I love this! And I haven't read a magazine in ages. I have two sitting in my pile right now. I'd like to get a health mag or a craft mag.

Thanks for sharing!
