One Year Ago

Really, one year ago? Yep, one year ago, I found a text message on my husband's phone which read, "I'll be thinking of you onight when I'm alone." Sad thing was, it was to another women!

Hurt, mad, sad, pissed off...nope not words I would use to describe my reaction! In fact, I remember sayin to him, "all I want to know is if I should get tested for an STD! And then told him there was nothing more to say and left for a SIXTEEN hour shift ( I honestly think that's what saved US).

Later that day, I would learn his addiction had taken a turn for the worse (an IMing affair)! Later that day, I learned he had gotten into an affair with a women he never even met! You see, guys don't work like women. They are visual beings, so no need for any personal contact, just a visual description and they are hooked!

Why do I share this? Certainly not so you can look at my spouse differently! Not so you can point your fingers either! I tell you this because of what came from it. For us, it was a gigantic slap of reality! We thought we had a great marriage! We thought we had great communication, sex, and trust! WE thought wrong!

This affair wasn't a product of Aaron alone, but Queen Jolene had a hand in it too! You see I drug him through the mud, talked down to him, disrespected him, and made his life at home a living hell! Imagine moi cussing the king out daily for what? Oh yeah mearly living dirty clothes out or not doing things around the house the way I saw fit.

You see, it takes two to make it or break it! We chose to make it! Sadly many don't. We chose to let God work in us separately and together! We chose to forgive and forget allowing us to move forward! Thank you, Jesus for YOUR mercies are new everyday!

A year ago, I chose to stay! Today, I thank God I did!

Jolene, THANK YOU For being brave enough for sharing and PRAISE GOD for the strength and courage it has taken both of you to work through this. I know of friends who've lost their marriage because of porn. It's such a painful and difficult addiction and so tough for men because it's so socially "acceptable" and easily accessible.

Praying for another year of sobriety and an even stronger marriage for your both!
