The Journey of Us... PART II

Dating...oh it was wonderful!  Bowling, Timberwolves games, Twins games, family time, movies...Oh my word, movies!

So, our first movie we saw together "legally," was Big Daddy.  When we left the theatre, he looks at me, "I want to be a daddy!"  Melt my heart, where's the dotted line?!

And then, it happened!  After dating six months, the engagement!

Dec 3rd, 1999....
My mom found out that Monday she had breast cancer and Dec 3rd, she had a masectomy and is currently cancer free 10 years!!!!!  Thank you, Jesus!

Dec. 4th, 1999...
Aaron was trying to cheer me up after a horrible, devistating week!  He took me to dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Minneapolis.  It was there he decided we should open our Christmas gifts that night.  You know, to cheer me up!  There was one problem, I didn't have his gift.  So, we drove back to my place, and parted ways.  We met up an hour or so later at my place again.  This time, I had his gift too.  So, he decided he'd open first.  He had it all planned out and I had no clue.  Well, a slight clue, since my roommate ratted out that he had the ring!  Um, thanks for ruining it.  Don't worry, I did not let on I knew, nor did I tell him till years later!  Ok, so back to the story.  He opened his...Nintendo 64!  A guys dream at that time, so I was told.  All the guys at work were jealous (I got their opinion).  Aaron, he took it and practically threw it aside.  He had better things to do.  So, he hands me my gift.  I rip into it and find a 12 pack of Diet-Caffiene Free Coke...my fav at the time.  Inside the empty 12 pack was a pair of white with navy blue stripes Adidas old school tennis shoes that I had wanted FOREVER!  I was so excited!  He kept saying, "look!"  and I was all..."uh?  It's my shoes, I know!"  He yanks the shoe out of my hand, shoves it in my face and says, "look CLOSER!"  OMG!!!!  There it was tied at the bottom of the laces at the toe of the shoe...my engagement ring!  Remember how I said before he couldn't work during Master's?  I thought it'd be a chip of a diamond...um, NO, the ring was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!  He picked it out all by himself!  He started unlacing the shoe and bending to one knee and saying something like, "I wanted to end the worst week of your life on a good note, will you marry me?"  We cried, I said YES!!!!

To be continued...
