How the King and the Queen came to be...

If you'll remember back to the end of the year last year, I mentioned a couple series to come?  You remember?  Great!

2010 will mark Aaron and I's 10th wedding anniversary!  What better way to celebrate (via blog that is) than to take a look at how we got to where we are today.  It's a journey you will not want to miss!

It all started in Aug. of  1998 when I asked our Pastor's wife, Tabby, "who's that guy?"  I had seen him play drums on the worship team and he had given a testimony the Sunday prior in Sunday school.  I so remember, he stood there with a plum colored suit, earrings, and funky glasses.  He was different than the other guys at church (no offense guys, but you were a bunch of pretty boy, goody goodies).  Ok, sorry, back to when we met.  Tabby said, "oh, that's Aaron."  As if I was a moron to not know who he was!

She grabbed my friend, Tori and I and said, "Hey Aaron these ladies want to meet you."  And so we did.  Oh did I meet him that weekend!  We spent the entire weekend together.  If I remember correctly, on the bus home from camp, Tori fell asleep.  She knew she wasn't gettin a word in.

We proceded to hang out for the weeks to come.  "Just buds!"  Then, it happened...one fateful night at Perkins.  We were hanging out, no big deal, and the heaven's opened.  Well, not exactly, but we left Perkins to drive over to church and he said something to the effect, "I can date next year."  He was in Master's Commision and there was no dating for 9 months!!!!  I said, "yah, who ya gonna date?"  His reply, "I dunno."  I said, "well you do owe me a few meals."  In Master's Commision, they had no money either, so their faithful friends bought meals for them after church.  Ok, so we get to my car and he high fives me (we used to hug)!  I grabbed my wheel and said, "God what are you doing?"  He did the same.

That was Wednesday night.  Friday, I met up with Tori at church to go shopping.  In the meantime, I ran into my friend, Rachel.  I tell her how weirded out I am with the whole episode from Wednesday and that I'm attracted to Aaron and she says...."he feels the same way!"  I went to the bathroom and threw up!  I knew, this was the one I was to marry (I'd prayed some specifics and it was all dead on)!  I talked Tori's ear off and she said, "shut up and pray!"  So I did.

I prayed I would run into Tabby or Angie (they were my mentors and I wanted to know what they thought).  I walked into Target, and there before my very eyes stood Tabby!  We ended up meeting for coffee and she listens to the week's events.  Imagine my surprise when my old-school Pastor's wife tells me to tell Aaron how I felt!  Um, hello, isn't the guy supposed to chase me?

So, Oct. 11th, 1998, I went to church to talk to Aaron.  I walked into the chapel and he was drummin away (he drummed harder the closer I got).  I said, "we need to talk."  He said....nothing!  Kept on drumming!  Eventually, he did say, "I know."  So, we decided, yep we like each other.  We decided, yep we should marry.  We decided, yep we need to tell the staff so he doesn't get kicked out of Master's.  All on that day!

The nine months passed.  I'm sorry, I mean they drug on forever!  We broke the rules a few times, not gonna lie.  We were in love!  Finally...May 30th, 1999 we officially started dating.  It was pure bliss!

To be continued....
